In 2003, my best friend Eric Cain, whom I’d met at UC Santa Cruz in 1969, was a documentary producer for Oregon Public Broadcasting. He thought it’d be a great idea to have me score one of his documentaries, “Three Days at Crane,” about a high school in eastern Oregon.

I went on to score several more documentaries for OPB including “Country Doctors, Rural Medicine,” “Rethinking the Forests” and “Ken Kesey.”

Our last collaboration was “Broken Treaties” (2017), a one-hour documentary about the treatment of Native Americans in Oregon in the 19th century. The music I composed and recorded has been nominated for a Regional Emmy.
